Testing 6 ✅ Complete

🏆 Gold Standard Tools (Highest Security)

These three tools represent the highest security tier:

  1. Continue.dev - $0, air-gapped capable, open source
  2. Diffblue Cover - On-premises AI, code never leaves environment
  3. BrowserStack - Immediate data wipeout after every test

Free Tier (No Procurement)

  • Continue.dev Solo ($0) - Production-ready
  • Google Gemini Free (180K completions/month)
  • UX Pilot (Free trial) - Safest design tool
  • Diffblue Community (25 methods/month)

Team Plans ($10-30/month)

  • Continue.dev Team ($10/month)
  • GitHub Copilot Business ($19/month)
  • Google Gemini Standard ($19/month)
  • UX Pilot Pro ($29/month)

🚨 Critical Alerts

Must Avoid (Without Action)

  1. Galileo AI Free/Starter - Outputs are PUBLIC

🎯 Key Findings

Data Privacy

  • 19 of 19 tools fully evaluated
  • 3 tools achieve Gold Standard security (Continue.dev, Diffblue, BrowserStack)
  • 2 tools have critical red flags (Galileo AI free tiers, Virtuoso QA)
  • Most tools safe for enterprise with proper tier selection

Pricing Insights

  • Free options available: Continue.dev, Google Gemini, Diffblue Community
  • Team tier range: $10-30/month per user
  • Enterprise tier range: $39-75/month per user (development tools)
  • Expensive options: Snyk Enterprise ($35K-90K for 50-100 devs)

Training Policies

  • Best practice: No training on customer data (majority of tools)
  • Exceptions: Virtuoso (trains by default), some design tool free tiers
  • Clear separation: Most tools have safe paid tiers, riskier free tiers

📋 Evaluation Criteria

Each tool evaluated on:

  1. ✅ Privacy policy and commercial use permissions
  2. ✅ Data training policies (whether code/data trains AI models)
  3. ✅ Data retention and sharing practices
  4. ✅ IP and confidentiality protections
  5. ✅ Pricing structure (free tier, paid plans, enterprise options)
  6. ✅ Usage limits and restrictions

🎯 For Hack Days

Phase 1: Immediate Deployment (Today)

Tools ready with NO procurement:

  • Continue.dev Solo ($0)
  • Google Gemini Free (180K/month)
  • UX Pilot (free trial)

Estimated setup time: <1 hour Total cost: $0

Phase 2: Team Rollout (Week 1-2)

Minimal procurement (<$20/user/month):

  • GitHub Copilot Business OR Google Gemini Standard ($19/month)
  • Continue.dev Team ($10/month) if team features needed
  • UX Pilot Pro ($29/month) for design

Total cost: ~$19-58/user/month

Phase 3: Enterprise Scale (After Evaluation)

Evaluate usage from Phase 1-2, then choose enterprise tiers based on needs
